What is Hygge?

Updated: Feb 11, 2021

Hygge is a Danish word for Comfort, Conviviality, Togetherness, Appreciating What we Have, Creating a Homely Space, It's a way of living which embraces , togetherness, appreciation and a meaningful connection to our surroundings, our friends and relatives and the environment.

The Little Book of Hygge witten by Meik Wiking explains this concept and Anders, my husband and I embrace this concept in our Accommodation and desire to share with our guests in our Self Contained Accommodation in Melbourne, Australia.

We share the same surname with the Author but are not related although Anders migrated to Australia from Sweden in the 1970's. I came from the UK in 1967 and we met in Melbourne in 1972 and married in 1974 in the UK. We have made a life in Australia with our 2 daughters and now 4 grandchildren.

There are many things we love about Australia and one is welcoming guests to our home and sharing the beautiful environment in which we live.

This is our new website and we plan to share images of this amazing country and especially our local environment, so potential guests can see what is in store for them. For example, Tesselaar Tulip Festival starts September 14th to October 13th 2019 and offers many attractions as well as the opportunity to walk amongst fields of magnificently coloured tulips. A Gardeners Dream.

So please watch this space.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
