March is the beginning of Autumn and there is already a sense of it in the air. Vintage time is starting in the Yarra Valley with wonderful oportunities to taste excellent wines from past years. The Yarra Valley is a great place to come and experience harvest time with all its wonderful choices of food and wine. You can witness the process of making sparkling wine at Domain Chandon most days. They are located on Maroondah Highway, Coldstream on the way to Healesville.
Our big Claret Ash tree is starting to change colour into its magnificent reds, oranges, pinks and purple and we will be sweeping for weeks. However its worth it as we love the tree and the leaves mulch down very quickly. This means very soon as the nights get cooler the Dandenong Ranges will be a blaze of colour. One of the special places to see this is Cloudehill Nursery in Olinda and Alfred Nicholas Gardens in Sherbrooke.
If you are in Melbourne, treat yourself and plan a day trip, or better still a weekend, so you can see both areas.
